Meet Alex!
Alex is a cat mom of three! She received a bachelor of social work in 2020 and then received a master of social work in 2021 from East Carolina University. She completed her internship requirements for both degrees at Craven County Hospice and SECU Comprehensive Cancer Center. She joined Fresh Start in July 2021 and since then has been providing therapeutic services to individuals/ families experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, irregular mood, stress, trauma, and behavioral issues. Additionally, she works with individuals who are having a hard time adjusting to life changes, grief, and loss. Alex’s areas of focus are self-esteem building, behavior modification techniques, and the development of positive coping skills to improve mental health symptoms. As well as helping individuals work through issues related to social stressors, relationship conflict, complex family dynamics, behavioral challenges at school/home, grief, and adjusting to various other life changes. Alex works specifically with ages 12+ with a special interest in older adults as well as members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their families. Alex believes that “playing a role in a client's journey towards improved mental health is a privilege.” She “strives to build a strong therapeutic alliance with clients by creating a judgement-free environment where clients feel safe, respected and supported.”
