Peggy, MSW, LCSW
Meet Peggy!
Peggy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She received a Bachelor of Social Work from East Carolina University (2013) and a Master of Social Work from University of New England (2014). Peggy has training in brainspotting, Intensive Trauma Treatment certification, Grief and Trauma Intervention for children, anxiety disorders amongst children and adolescents, techniques for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems, and nutritional and integrative interventions for autism, ADHD, anxiety, ODD, and depression. When Peggy works with clients, she aims to create a safe and nonjudgmental atmosphere in which clients can be supported in efforts to grow and change as they become reconnected to their strengths. Peggy uses a variety of evidence-based modalities with a focus on trauma and positive psychology. She works to create a therapeutic environment that’s active and engaging with workbooks, guided imagery, mindfulness, psychoeducation, therapeutic card games, art activities, writing prompts, and the use of homework to reinforce skills outside of therapy. She considers herself holistic and integrative in her approach as she works with clients to encourage the implementation of good sleep hygiene, healthy eating, and exercise to improve mental health. Peggy specifically works with children by utilizing directive play therapy with various therapeutic games and activities to respond to the unique developmental needs of children, who often express themselves better through play activities than through verbal communication. She provides a warm, child-friendly environment that helps children feel at ease in order to provide the best possible treatment. Peggy also focuses on helping make changes in the family system to teach parents to develop and maintain healthy boundaries and promote problem-solving through the understanding of family patterns and dynamics (including intergenerational patterns). She teaches families how to learn healthy practices to build empathy, cohesion, and communication in the family to reduce conflict. She particularly focuses on the impact of trauma and loss with all populations and supporting trauma recovery for better emotional, physical, and relationship health.
