Meet Scott!
Scott describes his journey to becoming a therapist as a “winding road.” Scott started his career in music education as a classically trained vocalist. He has performed in Vienna, Carnegie Hall, Canterbury Cathedral, and other locations in the US and Europe. He also worked as a networking technologist for over 20 years and performed business consulting services along with networking design and technical support services to small and medium-sized businesses. He has worked in various capacities with people all over the world which he states, “has helped me to become a student of life and someone who is deeply interested in not only diversity but those common elements that unite us all regardless of faith, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.” Scott received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Liberty University in 2014 and received a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in 2019. In 2018, Scott was certified as a Premarital/Martial Counseling Facilitator. Scott joined A Fresh Start in 2019. And in 2020, Scott became a National Certified Counselor and received associate licensure as a Mental Health Counselor. Scott’s therapeutic focus is on addiction (alcohol, substance, sexual, etc.), anxiety, depression, OCD, parenting, personality and mood disorders, and trauma/PTSD. Scott provides faith-based and/or secular-based counseling in addition to individual and couple (premarital/marital/cohabiting) counseling. As a therapist, he has an eclectic modality incorporating CBT, REBT, DBT, PCT, ACT, and attachment-based theory. Scott works with ages 12+, all ethnicities, faiths/non-faiths, all genders, and is an LGBTQ+ ally. Lastly, Scott has been married for 18 years and has two children ages 15 and 16.
